Hold the Dark (Movie)

Release Date: June 1st, 2018

Set in Alaska, this thriller should be on everyone’s list especially if you’ve read the 2014 novel it’s based on. The movie is set to be directed by Jeremy Saulnier who has hits such as Green Room, Blue RuinMurder Party and Putty Hill under his belt so he’s no stranger to the genre. Among the announced cast is Westworld‘s Jeffrey Wright, James Badge Dale, Jonathan Whitesell and Riley Keough. The movie will follow Russell Core who is hired to help track down three children who were killed by wolves in the deep snow.

The Hollow (Season 1)

Release Date: June 8th, 2018

First announced back in October 2016, this is one of six new kids series announced for the streaming service. According to Netflix: ‘In The Hollow, strangers-turned-friends scavenge through a surreal mystery world as they desperately search for a way back home.’

Alex Strangelove

Release Date: June 8th, 2018

Although the movie has actually already released, it was only to select audiences and will be arriving on Netflix under the Original banner on June 8th. Starring Daniel Doheny and Antonio Marizale it’s a movie about a young teen navigating life as a homosexual. IndieWire called it a delightful movie citing that it lands “somewhere between Love, Simon and Superbad.”

Sense8 Final Episode (TV Episode)

Release Date: June 8th, 2018

Sense8 has had a turbulent few years. The series which comes from Lana Wachowski tells a refreshing story and, for the first two seasons, had a monster budget. Sadly, Netflix canceled it but after a massive fan backlash, it was granted one final episode to tie up the story. The special episode will be making its way onto Netflix on June 8th. The Angel (Movie)

Release Date: June 15th, 2018

Although not the first Isreali production for Netflix, this is one of the most expensive purchases from Netflix in the region. Directed by Ariel Vromen (most known for his movie The Iceman), he is producing this new spy thriller exclusively for Netflix due for release in the middle of the month. The movie will recreate the true story of a high ranking Egyptian official who became a spy for Israel against his home country of Egypt. Production on the movie started last July and the end result will be on Netflix in June.

Voltron: Legendary Defenders (Season 6)

Release Date: June 15th, 2018

Announced with the release of season 5, Voltron has been putting out new episodes every 6 months or sometimes even less! Although the reboot has been a fan-favorite and one of the best Dreamworks animated titles on Netflix, this may be the final season.

Marvel’s Luke Cage (Season 2)

Release Date: June 22nd, 2018

So far in 2018, we’ve had one new Marvel series and the summer addition will be the second full season of Luke Cage. First introduced back in 2015 in Jessica Jones Season 1 and later given his own solo series, Luke Cage is the bulletproof man. The first season was set in the past in Harlem telling Luke’s origin story but now we’re fast-forwarding a bit to the current era where he faces new baddies and joins with new partners.

GLOW (Season 2)

Release Date: June 23rd, 2018

Alison Brie is returning to GLOW for a second season. The show comes from the creator of Orange is the New Black and shares many themes but is arguably, nowadays, the better of the two shows. Continuing the story of the GLOW wrestlers, this all-star returns and instead of being in training like in the first season, the girls are now put to work on the main stage. We’ve got more about season 2 of GLOW in our season preview.
