Welcome back to the first full proper release week of 2019 with Netflix now reverting back to a more traditional release schedule after the holidays. If you’re making your way back to work this week be sure in the knowledge that you’ll be able to kick back with all of these fantastic new additions.
This list includes all the new additions currently announced for the week of January 6th up until January 13th. The majority of titles will be released worldwide but this list also covers titles that’ll come only in the United States.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at what’s coming to Netflix this week.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) Disney Exclusive
Release Date: Wednesday, January 9th
Only for those in the United States
Between every major Star Wars movie release, Disney has elected to release a spinoff movie each time. The first was Rogue One (which is leaving Netflix this month) and now the second is Solo: A Star Wars Story.
The movie rewinds the clock and essentially gives us the hero story of how Han Solo came to be the smuggler we meet in Episode IV. It’s got plenty of action and familiar faces from the Star Wars Universe.
This will also be the final Star Wars movie to drop on Netflix as part of the Disney agreement.
GODZILLA The Planet Eater (2019) Netflix Original
Release Date: Wednesday, January 9th
Netflix is no stranger to GODZILLA being the host of a couple of the anime series exclusively. Now, it’ll also be getting the new one-off GODZILLA movie called The Planet Eater.
Godzilla teams up with the humans and some alien lifeforms to go up against a new entity known as Ghidorah.
The movie will also premiere at a number of cinemas across the USA too.
Friends from College (Season 2) Netflix Original
Release Date: Friday, January 11th
The all-star comedy from Netflix debuted first in 2017 so it’s been a while to wait for the second season but its release is finally in sight.
The new season will see the Friends return together for more hilarious antics as they constantly assess their lives and ruin each other’s lives while they’re at it.

The Last Laugh (Movie) Netflix Original
Release Date: Friday, January 11th
Chevy Chase has basically been MIA from the comedy scene since he left Community but he’s back in this brand new comedy movie.
Here’s what Netflix says is in store for when this drops on Friday: “When retired talent manager Al Hart is reunited with his first client, Buddy Green, a comic who quit show business 50 years ago, he convinces Buddy to escape their retirement community and hit the road for a cross-country comedy tour.”
