Welcome to another monthly preview where we’re looking at all the Netflix Originals scheduled for release throughout May 2024.

English Language Netflix Originals Coming in May 2024
Bodkin
Coming to Netflix: May TBD

Created by Jez Scharf, this dark comedy thriller comes from the Obama’s production company – Higher Ground Productions, in association with wiip.
Starring Will Forte, Siobhán Cullen, Robyn Cara, and David Wilmot, among others, the series is about “a motley crew of podcasters who set out to investigate the mysterious disappearance of three strangers in an idyllic, coastal Irish town.”
A Man in Full
Coming to Netflix: May 2nd

Jeff Daniels is headlining this highly anticipated new limited series, which will consist of six episodes. It’s about a real estate mogul facing imminent bankruptcy who must fend off the vultures circling his crumbling empire.
Regina King is one of the producers on the show and also is directing too with David E. Kelley writing.
Secrets of the Neanderthals
Coming to Netflix: May 2nd

As we first revealed, Secrets of the Neanderthals is a new British documentary that aims to “explore the mystery of the disappearance of the Neanderthals and their lifestyle.”
Sir Patrick Stewart will narrate the documentary, with Ashley Gething directing.
Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story
Coming to Netflix: May 3rd

Over the years we’ve had some excellent movies that document the biggest business rivalries of our time. Hoping to smoke all of them out of the water is this new entry that retells the gripping story (with a heavy focus on comedy) of the famous breakfast wars that saw Kelloggs and Post go to toe-to-toe.
A huge ensemble cast has been assembled for Unfrosted, with Jerry Seinfeld fronting the cast and serving as the writer and director.
Katt Williams: New Comedy Special
Coming to Netflix: May 4th
Netflix will be going live for the second time for a stand-up special following Chris Rock in 2023 with Katt Williams.
Mother of the Bride
Coming to Netflix: May 9th

Mark Waters directed this new movie, which is arriving on Netflix just in time for Mother’s Day (well if you’re in the United States anyway!).
Brooke Shields, Miranda Cosgrove, Benjamin Bratt, and Rachael Harris headline the movie, which is about a mother and her daughter who reunite with a wedding on the horizon. A wrench is thrown into the mix when Lana discovers Emma’s future husband is the son of the man who broke her heart years ago.

Blood of Zeus (Season 2)

If you can quite believe it, the first season of the fantasy action series Blood of Zeus premiered on Netflix in October 2020, so we’re coming up on four years! The second season will FINALLY drop in full mid-way through May.
Bridgerton (Season 3 – Part 1)

The first four episodes of the eight that will make up the third season of Netflix’s hit Shondaland series Bridgerton debut on May 16th.
Thelma the Unicorn
Coming to Netflix: May 17th

One of our most anticipated animated feature films coming to Netflix in 2024 is undoubtedly Thelma the Unicorn, which comes from directors Jared Hess and Lynn Wang and is based on the best-selling kid’s books by Aaron Blabey.
Here’s what you can you can expect from the film, courtesy of Netflix:
“Thelma is a small-time pony who dreams of becoming a glamourous music star. In a pink and glitter-filled moment of fate, Thelma is transformed into a unicorn and instantly rises to global stardom. But this new life of fame comes at a cost. Thelma the Unicorn is a quirky, hilarious, and heartfelt ride from directors Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite) and Lynn Wang (Unikitty!).”

If you love Selling Sunset and wonder what it’s like selling houses to the rich and famous in London – this new reality series is for you.
Tires (Season 1)
Coming to Netflix: May 23rd

Shane Gillis, who has rapidly grown to fame over the last few years following his controversial firing from SNL, once filmed a pilot for a workplace comedy series set in an auto repair shop. Netflix has ordered the full series, which will be debuting globally in late May.

Coming to Netflix: May 24th

Following the success of Jennifer Lopez’s 2023 Netflix movie The Mother, we’ve not had long to wait for her next action-based movie with a sci-fi twist this time around. Directed by Brad Peyton, this movie follows an AI soldier who decides to bring peace is to destroy humanity.
Eric (Season 1)
Coming to Netflix: May 30th
Benedict Cumberbatch as Vincent – Picture: Netflix
Abi Morgan, best known for series like River and The Split, is coming to Netflix with her first major project that Benedict Cumberbatch headlines.
The story revolves around a father who is desperately searching for his son. Because of the stress, one of his puppet creations comes to life in his head.
International Netflix Originals Coming in May 2024
Down the Rabbit Hole (2024)

Coming to Netflix: May 1st
New from Mexico is this new comedy starring Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Teresa Ruiz.
Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar
Language: Hindi
Coming to Netflix: May 1st
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s highly anticipated romantic drama series starring Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditi Rao Hydari.
Here’s what you can expect:
“The scheming Mallikajaan rules over an elite house of courtesans — but a new rival threatens her reign as rebellion brews in British-ruled India.”
Beautiful Rebel (2024)

New from Italy – Beautiful Rebel is a feature film musical biopic based on Gianna Nannini’s life and includes the cast of Selene Caramazza, Maurizio Lombardi, and Stefano Rossi Giordani.
T・P BON (Season 1)
Language: Japanese
Coming to Netflix: May 2nd
Time Patrol Bon, a classic manga series that ran in the 1970s and into the 1980s, is getting a modern-day adaptation. The good news here is that Netflix will be releasing season 2 quickly, with that lined up for July 17th.
The 8 Show
Language: Korean
Coming to Netflix: May 17th
We can reveal that a new Korean comedy drama will debut on Netflix midway through May 2024. Ryu Jun-yeol, Chun Woo-hee, and Park Jeong-min star.
Here’s the official synopsis:
“Eight individuals trapped in a mysterious 8-story building participate in a tempting but dangerous game show where they earn money as time passes.”
My Oni Girl
Language: Japanese
Coming to Netflix: May 24th
Directed by Tomotaka Shibayama, this new anime movie serves as the fourth major feature film from Studio Colorido and tells the story of a relationship between a human boy and a demon girl.
A Part of You (2024)
Language: Swedish
Coming to Netflix: May 31st
In this new Swedish teen drama, you’ll follow a girl trying to make sense of the world following a tragic loss.
We should also note that throughout May 2024 in Los Angeles, Netflix will be running its Netflix Is A Joke Fest between May 2nd and May 12th, with over 300 live stand-up specials to be featured.
